Justice Verma Committee in the Criminal Law Amendment Act, 2013.This Amendment was passed by the Lok Sabha on 19 March, 2013 and by the Rajya Sabha on 21 March, 2013 and received the President’s assent on 2 April, 2013 and is deemed to have come into force from the 3rd day of February, 2013.
Registering an FIR is mandatory by a policer officer incharge of the police station where the aggrevied party reaches first. If the crime took place outside the jurisdiction of that particular Police Station then the Police Officer should file a “ZERO FIR” and immediately forward the copy of it to the concerned Police Station under which the crime took place.
